Karen Nisenson, Founder and Clinical Director of Arts For Healing, will present a talk about music and the brain. Topics will range from music’s role in child development to the enhanced intellectual benefits of learning an instrument. Music and neurological function will be discussed as it relates to autism spectrum disorders and furthering emotional/social communication skills in children with special needs. The presentation will include piano improvisational exercises with audience participation as a demonstration of musical self -expression.
