Together in Music
Together in Music: April 29th, 2012
A Community Concert
On April 29th, at the New Canaan Country School, Arts for Healing hosted a concert for the community, featuring the Greenwich Village Orchestra. This was a family oriented interactive concert with guest appearances by clients of Arts for Healing.
This community family concert provided an interactive music experience, demonstrating the benefits of music generally and specifically in the art of healing and self-expression. Together in Music promoted a broader awareness of general health and well-being associated with exposure to music specifically and the arts generally. The first program of its kind, this community concert is innovative and unique as an interactive program formatted for audience participation. The concert also helped raise awareness to the value of music therapy and art therapy in the treatment of individuals with communications disorders, including those on the autism spectrum.
Following the concert, the musicians held a "petting zoo" where audience members were able to get up close and personal with their instruments.
