A Message From Our Chairman

As we approach our 10th Anniversary, we are very excited about the new "school year" at Arts for Healing and the many opportunities and challenges it brings. Last year, we focused on getting our house in order to weather the economic storm by reducing costs and finding new sources of funding. With the efforts of a number of individuals, we successfully reduced our costs by 37%, while continuing to serve our clients. This foundation of reduced costs will continue to impact us in the current program year.

Steve Phillips, AFH Founder Karen Nisenson, and
Executive Director Brooke Manning-Hinds

This year, we are focused on serving more special needs individuals. We recently welcomed two new therapists and a part-time Executive Director to our staff, which allows us not only to see more clients at 24 Grove Street, but to expand our outreach. We are pleased to able to provide our services outside
of New Canaan through agencies such as the STAR/Rubino Center and the Mid-Fairfield Child Guidance Center, who serve populations similar to ours.

We have identified generous new sources of funding to support these efforts, including the Barbara Benton Davis Fund and the Jessica Lee Brett Memorial Fund of the Fairfield County Community Foundation, while continuing to be supported by our generous individual donors and grants.

Looking ahead, we will be marking our 10th anniversary with a gala celebration and hope you will participate in the many upcoming events.

Wonderful things are happening here, thanks to the continued support of our community. We look forward to seeing you at 24 Grove Street!

Sincerely,
Steven Phillips, Chairman of the Board
